I have a son. He is two. He loves to play, write and draw. About six months ago, my husband and I bought him a desk. It was small (27W x 20L x 19H), white and distressed, but not in a good way. It was kinda ugly. For the last few months it’s been on my to do list and about two weeks ago, I finally sat down and got to work.
I had some left over chalkboard paint, which was tinted beige along with a small bottle of red paint. I intended to paint the entire desk with chalkboard paint and accent it in red. I wanted to paint the word “hello,” at the top, but I painted the letter “J” instead, which is his first initial.
If you know me, then you know that I love candy. It’s one of my most favorite things in the whole wide world. This is why I made the legs of my son’s desk look like candy canes. Ahhh, the glorious power of paint!
The cost of the table was $40.00. I purchased it from Nadeau in Ravenswood in Chicago. It took about three hours to paint and was well worth my time. I'm pleased with the outcome and my son draws on this table all of the time. As you can expect, the clean up is super easy.
