Known
as the enchanted island, Puerto Rico is filled with wonderful sights and
sounds as well as food and entertainment. The key to finding it all is
to keep your ears and eyes open and if all else fails, ask, ask, ask.
In addition to the magnificent rain forest and the majestic mountains,
there are also hidden treasures along the island including a variety of
restaurants, clubs, and beaches.
5. Head over to Viejo San Juan also known as Old San Juan and soak up
some culture by visiting El Morro (a six-level castle), San Cristobal
Fort (a fort build to protect Puerto Rico against land invasions hundreds
of years ago), and the Museo de Arte e Historia (art museum filled with
fine art exhibits). After leaving each of these places you’ll begin
to get a sense of what Puerto Rico has to offer.
4. You’re on an island. What’s better than heading over to
the beach for a day of fun in the sun? Playa
Luquillo Beach, located forty-five minutes from San Juan is absolutely
gorgeous. You can dance in the sun with the palm trees. And if you’re
hungry, head down Route 3 where you will be greeted a row of sixty numbered
kiosks selling food and drinks. And if it’s accommodations you seek,
then head down to the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn. It is the perfect place
to stay and it’s right across the street from the beach. They also
rent boogie boards at the front desk for five dollars a day. Also included,
is breakfast, which is served on the terrace overlooking the ocean.
3. Go to El Yunque, Puerto
Rico’s tropical rain forest located on the eastern side of the Luquillo
Mountains. It is absolutely breathtaking as it is extremely lush and dense.
There are even areas where you can venture off of the trails. But Follow
the trail to La Mina, where you can swim in a mostly shallow pool of water
underneath a stunning waterfall. You’ll feel like your bathing in
the fountain of youth. When you’re ready to head back up the mountains,
prepare yourself for an adventurous trek, as the rails are few and far
in between as to preserve the natural beauty and wonder of El Yunque.
2. If it’s relaxation you are looking for, then why not head over
to Palmas
Del Mar in Humaco. This is one of the most beautifully manicured places
in Puerto Rico. You can go to the spa, play golf or even hang out in the
hot tub adjacent to the pool at night if you wanted to. And they also
have a casino inside of the hotel if you’re feeling lucky.
1. By far, one of the most amazing things to do in Puerto Rico is to see
the Bioluminescent Bay in Fajardo. There are few places in the entire
world where you can view this incredible phenomenon and Fajardo is one
of them. The bioluminescence (a tiny organism that glows when touched)
can only be seen at night. To learn more about bioluminescence, please
read this.
One way to see the bioluminescence is to take a Kayaking tour. Even beginners
can take this tour. After being partnered up, there is a short training
on how to safely use your kayak. Then everybody gets into the kayak and
you’re off. Paddling down the channel is both serene and amazing
as you can barely see the outline of the canopy of trees above as the
only light guiding your way, is moonlight. One can hear the singing of
the Coqui and as they watch the stars over take the sky. After traveling
through the channel, you will come to an enormous bay, where you are able
to watch the water glow as you strike your fingers against the water or
even your paddle. The guide then offers valuable information about this
phenomenon and will answer any questions that you may have. After all
questions are answered, the entire group heads back to shore. If you decide
to take this tour then note that it will be something that you will never
forget. If you would like to learn more about the Fajardo Kayaking Tours,

These are just some of the things that you can do in Puerto Rico to make
you trip unforgettable, but there are many other places to visit and things
to see on the island. Please take some time researching the different
areas before you go.
