Imagine
rustic shacks, luminous waterfalls and leafless branches dancing
in the crisp winter air. Picture vibrantly tinted trees standing
proudly amongst a backdrop of gracious mountains. Whatever images
you conjure up in your mind, Iga Rusiecka paints. Inspired by the
incredibly beautiful town of Richwood, West Virginia, she often
creates her one of a kind works by sunlight.
Iga
Rusiecka was born in Poland, but moved to Chicago, Illinois when
she was a child. Each holiday, she spent time creating her own centerpieces
and wreaths. About six years ago Iga moved to Richwood, West Virginia
to be with her Fiancé. After watching several instructional
painting videos narrated by William Alexander and Bob Ross, she
became fascinated and in October of 2006 began painting on rocks,
canvas, and bark.
Many
of Iga’s nature inspired pieces are meant to bring the outdoors
inside, but her unique rocks were created to sit outdoors, in lawns
or in gardens. This is why they are specially treated to withstand
the weather. These distinctively shaped rocks can also be given
as gifts in remembrance of West Virginia’s topography.
Iga
Rusiecka’s paintings have been exhibited at the local library
in addition to the Feast of the Rampson festival in Richwood. Her
work has also been covered by reporter Maxine Corbett of Richwood’s
local newspaper, The Nicholas Chronicle.
