Sometimes
light illuminates nature or man in such a way that words cannot
describe its true essence and it can only be captured in a single
photograph. Capturing these images seems like a chance encounter,
a stroke of luck so to speak, one signifying the right place and
time syndrome, but it isn't. It is a gift, given to few.
Luckily, Pablo Francisco Castro has this gift. His photographs walk the line
between photojournalism and fine art photography. Working in digital
and film, he is able to manipulate the lens in order to find the
beauty in most any circumstance. "I secretly live to experience
vision and I'll do almost anything for it."
Born
in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Pablo currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.
For the past six years his work has been exhibited in magazines,
festivals, on web sites, and in various cafes around the Chicago
land area. While serving two tours in Iraq, Pablo began to chronicle
his life through pictures; exposing both surreal and ironic images
intensified by his unique take on composition and lighting.
Mr. Castro is currently working on publishing his photos from Iraq in
addition to embarking on a new project, which includes documenting
the extinct sugar mills of Puerto Rico.
